So How did Sublime Day begin?
We launched Sublime Day back in 2021 because we wanted to say thank you to all our customers for shopping with us, for supporting our small business, and for caring for the planet. Each and every pair of pants you buy from WUKA helps to prevent 200 disposable pads and tampons from entering landfill or clogging up our oceans. Every purchase makes a difference, not just to us, but to future generations too. It's why we're proud to be the only period underwear brand that's a certified B Corp - recognition of our commitment to planet, people and purpose not just profit.
And we’re not alone. There are other small, independent businesses who share these values. These are the businesses who deserve your hard-earned cash. The businesses who appreciate every sale, who need our support. The businesses who also care.
Say No to Prime
In 2021, Amazon used Prime Day to sell almost $12billion worth of ‘stuff’- most of which would go on to be returned after the frenzied sale ended. Unlike our own returns, Amazon’s policy is to destroy returned goods- even if they’re unopened. Just so you know, our returns are either sent back to inventory or sent on to textile recycling.
But its not just the waste (although that’s bad enough). Amazon are known for less than fair working conditions, and an extortionately large carbon footprint. It’s also known that the global giants do not pay fair taxes either, which means they consistently fail to contribute to community, the NHS and key workers.
In contrast, WUKA pays all staff fairly (and taxes too), we’re carbon neutral, certified BCorp and committed to putting people and planet first, always.
