The fabric
Made with TENCEL™ Modal.
TENCEL™ Modal is a cellulosic fibre - made from wood by Lenzing in Austria, not from petrochemicals. It's the fibre Ultimate™ is built on, and it's what you notice in the first ten seconds of wearing a pair.
Soft against skin on the days you least want to think about what you're wearing. And still soft after a hundred washes, which is the harder half.
Wood
Hardwood pulp from certified or controlled sources - FSC® or PEFC.
Fibre
Lenzing spins that pulp into TENCEL™ Modal at its mills in Austria.
Fabric
Knitted into Ultimate™ - the bit of the range you actually feel.
You shouldn't be able to feel your period pants. That's the whole brief for this fabric.
Softness that lastsThe fibre's cross-section and tenacity favour a soft fabric that survives repeated washing and drying.
Moisture regulationThe structure absorbs and releases moisture, supporting a drier microclimate against skin.
Responsible woodSourced from certified or controlled wood sources - FSC® or PEFC.
Lighter productionMade with at least 50% less carbon emissions and water than generic modal, per Lenzing's Higg MSI figures.
Fibre properties and the production comparison above are as published by Lenzing AG (Higg MSI v3.91), measured against generic modal - they are Lenzing's figures for the fibre, not WUKA's figures for the finished pair. WUKA doesn't make the fibre; we choose it. Full composition is printed on every label.
FAQ: Period Underwear
Your guide to choosing, wearing and caring for WUKA period pants. Find the right absorbency and style, learn how they work, how to wash them at 40°C, and what to expect on heavy and super heavy days.
What are period pants and how do they work?
Period pants look like regular underwear with a built in multi layer gusset that absorbs flow, locks it in and helps control odour. For a quick explainer, see How Period Pants Work.
Which absorbency should I choose for my flow?
Match absorbency to your heaviest part of the cycle. Medium holds around 15 ml for moderate days, Heavy holds 20 ml or more, and Super Heavy holds up to 60 ml for very heavy days and nights. Browse Heavy Flow or Super Heavy to compare.
How do I pick the right size and fit?
Use the size chart to choose your usual size, then fine tune by hip measurement. If your size fluctuates or you want a flexible fit during bloating, try multi size WUKA Stretch. Check the Size Guide for details.
How long can I wear period pants, and are they good overnight?
Aim for up to 12 hours per pair depending on your flow. For sleep or long shifts, choose higher coverage or super heavy styles. Explore the Overnight collection or compare options in Super Heavy.
How many pairs do I need to cover a full cycle?
Most people use 5 to 7 pairs for a full switch, depending on cycle length and laundry routine. If you are starting out, begin with 3 to 5 pairs across different absorbencies and add more once you learn your flow pattern.
How do I wash and dry period pants?
Rinse in cold water after use, then machine wash at 30 to 40°C with similar colours. Skip fabric softener and air dry to protect absorbency. See the full care guide: How to Wash Period Pants.
Which style should I choose for coverage and comfort?
Choose coverage to match your needs. High Waist gives extra front and back coverage and is popular for heavier days. Midi and Bikini feel minimal while still protective. For maximum capacity, compare a High Waist Super Heavy option here: High Waist Heavy and explore all styles on the collection page: Period Underwear.
