We kicked off the month with Verity PCOS.
6. Is there anything that PCOS directly affects?
WUKA X VERITY PCOS
We spoke to Professor Wiebke Arlt (Professor and Consultant Endocrinologist, Wiebke leads the DAISy-PCOS research programme funded by Wellcome Trust) "@daisypcos" on instagram.
PCOS, also known as polycystic ovarian syndrome, is a common health problem caused by an imbalance of reproductive hormones. There is an increased level of androgens, which is traditionally described as the 'male' hormone and people with PCOS have higher levels of testosterone which leads to key symptoms like acne, excess body hair and hair thinning.
It is not curable, but symptoms are manageable with a healthy lifestyle, diet and exercise regime.
WUKA X HARNAAM KAUR
This month, we sat down with Harnaam Kaur (motivational speaker, social activist and campaigner) to talk about PCOS and breaking taboos.
