What Does the GenM MTick Mean?
Around 13 million women in the UK are currently going through perimenopause, experiencing symptoms such as hot flushes, mood swings, sleep disturbances and more. It’s nothing new. Menopause is as natural an event as the first period, and yet it’s a topic many still shy away from. But with half the population having periods, menopause is an inevitable fact of life - so isn’t it time we learned more about it?
Luckily, the conversation is starting to open up, and more brands are stepping up to display the MTick on their products. But what exactly is the MTick, what does it mean and why should we be looking out for it? Read on to find out.
What is the GenM M Tick?
Created by GenM, the MTick is a universally recognised sign that a product has been designed to help manage and ease any one of the 48 symptoms of menopause. You’ll notice it on some of our products at WUKA, such as our Everyday™ collection, our DryTech™ collection and our new menopause friendly sleep wear. You might have seen it on other products on the high street too.
But the MTick is really more than just a logo. It’s a sign that times are changing. A sign that women are no longer being left out of the conversation. A sign that symbolises huge change. The MTick helps to raise awareness of menopause, and ultimately means that women are now able to search and shop for products specifically for them and their needs. About time!

What’s the criteria for a product to be accredited with the MTick?
To be officially menopause friendly and to receive the MTick, products must meet one of three criteria points set out by GenM:
- Backed by claims: products which have officially been recognised as effective in supporting one of the 48 signs of menopause.
- Tried and tested: products which have been proven to ease symptoms - tested by real menopausal women.
- Features technology: products which utilise technology or functionality that has been designed to support menopause symptoms.
MTick products have also been assessed against Trustpilot reviews. Only products with 4+ star ratings will be accepted.
Why do we need menopause friendly products?
Menopause symptoms impact the day to day life of a significant number of women, every single day in the UK. And if you have a period, these symptoms may one day affect you, too.
So what are these symptoms?
